Our rating was last updated 01-07-2009
after an anonymous visit by a hotel inspector.
- Check if the accommodation is compliant with current fire regulations.
We have a gas safety declaration, we are fire compliant. We have just one line in our health and safety report – “In good order” – all this information is available online.
- Good practice requires that accommodation providers who offer food at their premises,
e.g. breakfasts, keep a Food Safety Journal which is called
"Safer Food – Better Business" and have it available at any time.
We have a Safer Food – Better Business register where we put details of all our food suppliers and routine kitchen procedures, so our food is absolutely safe (and also local, healthy, good quality and very tasty).
Our food was rated as ‘very good’ by the visiting hotel inspector, which is equivalent to 4
stars.
On the whole we are proud to have only 'good' and 'very good' ratings in the quality assessment report.
- If an issue arises how should it be resolved? The best way is to resolve it there and then – speak to the owners and express your disappointment clearly, stating the reason.
The overwhelming majority of accommodation providers are hardworking
business people who will do everything possible to satisfy
any sensible request you make.
At Cottingburn House B&B we also have a visitors' book, where you are most welcome to leave your
comments. We are now offering this opportunity online by introducing this page. We
remind our customers all the time that if anything is not up
to standard, all you have to do is to let us know and we will improve it immediately. We offer complimentary tea and coffee and a fruit
basket, as well as all top ups during breakfast without extra charge, and
you are most welcome to let us know if you want a top up or have something cooked differently.
